Child Witnesses of Violence Support Service (CWDV) assists children and young people with processing their thoughts and experiences by supporting their social, emotional, and physical well-being.
How Do Our Team Help?
CWDV Counsellors utilise a variety of therapeutic methods to support the young person’s individual needs and healing journey.
CWDV Counsellors work in the communities of Kowanyama, Lockhart River, Mapoon and Napranum building connections in community to improve understanding of the strengths and issues children and young people face.
Our counsellors address areas like:
- Understanding identity
- Protective behaviours
- Respect (for self & others)
- Safety planning
- Self-esteem
- Understanding abuse
- Identifying strengths
- Processing feelings and emotions
- Connections with others
Eligability
CWDV supports counselling services for Children and Young People experiencing (or at risk of experiencing) domestic
and family violence in the community.
To access our support, the child or young person must live in or be connected to the community in Kowanyama, Lockhart River, Mapoon or Napranum.
