Leaving Violence Program

Cairns Regional Trial



From 1st July 2025 RAATSIC will deliver the Leaving Violence Program (Cairns Regional Trial). 


Escaping Violence Payment (Cairns Place-Based Trial) will not be taking any new applications after the 30th June 2025.


Any applications made on or before 30th June 2025 will continue to be supported.





What Kind of Support can I Get?


RAATSIC Leaving Violence Program (Cairns Regional Trial) can provide up to $5,000 in financial support (up to $1,500 in cash and $3,500 in goods and services). 


Eligible individuals can also get up to 12 weeks of case support for referrals, risk assessments and safety planning. 


The Leaving Violence Program supports eligible victim-survivors to leave, or who are planning to leave a violent intimate partner relationship. 



Who is eligible?

You can apply if you:

  • are a victim-survivor of intimate partner violence, and
  • have changed your living situation in the past 12 weeks because of intimate partner violence, or
  • you have a plan to change your living situation because of intimate partner violence.


Examples:

  • you have left your shared home
  • your partner has left or been shut out of the shared home
  • you have a plan, or want help to make a plan, to leave a partner who uses violence.

To be eligible, you must also:

  • be 18 years and over, and
  • be having money worries, and
  • be living in Australia as a citizen, permanent resident or temporary visa holder, and
  • have not gotten the payment in the last 12 months (includes Escaping Violence Program payments).


The program is open to people of any gender or sexuality.

To start a support service application:

A support service application form has been developed to help with quicker access to Leaving Violence Program for individuals who are already working with a support service.


The worker submits this application (with client consent) and will be contacted by the RAATSIC Leaving Violence Program to progress the application.
