Family Participation Program

What is the Family Participation Program?

The Family Participation Program (FPP) provides Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, youth and their families opportunities to yarn (voice) and make decisions (choice) regarding worries and concerns on Child Protection matters.

How Do Our Team Help?

FPP Convenors work with the family to put forward options to support, protect and care for a child’s needs. This support is done through the Family Led Decision Making Process.

We offer:

  • Free, voluntary and confidential help
  • Working with the strengths of the family
  • Centring voice and choice, encouraging self-determination and empowerment
  • Assisting families to identify an independent person for decision-making
  • Assist families with support referrals
  • Support cultural connections

Is This the Right Program for My Family?

We can support you if you:

  • Need help to understand Child Safety’s concerns
  • Need help holding planning sessions in preparation for a family meeting
  • Need support in identifying family members who can provide safety, support and maintain the child’s cultural and family connections
